Operation Babylift (referred to as Operation Babysnatch in some media): mass evacuation of orphans from South Vietnam ca. 1975.

In 1975 Gerald Ford approved Operation Babylift using military planes to transport orphans out of Vietnam for adoption in the US, Australia, Canada and Europe. The first plane to leave Saigon crashed killing 138 passengers - mostly children. In total, around 3,000 children were flown out.
