To emphasize only a persons beauty seems to me to be an untruthful way of representing somebody..
There is no exact beauty, people are just not beautiful. There has to be more.

“Learn to love solitude – to be more alone with yourselves. The problem with young people is their carrying out noisy and aggressive actions not to feel lonely – and this is a sad thing – the individual must learn to be on his own as a child – for this doesn’t mean to be alone: it means not get bored with oneself which is a very dangerous symptom, almost a disease.”

Andrei Tarkovsky

I have no decency. I like that about myself.

The story goes that the Roman Emperor Claudius II imposed a ban on marriages in order to boost his army. Only single men had to enter the army, and too many men were dodging the draft by getting married. Valentinus, though, in an effort to protect the sacramentality of Christian marriage, performed secret marriages, and when he got caught he was sentenced to death. While he awaited execution, he was showered with notes from young couples extolling the virtues of love over war. (Looks like John Lennon didn’t invent the slogan “Make love not war” after all.) These notes, if they ever existed at all, were supposedly the first Valentines. Poor old Valentinus was executed in February 14th, 269, a bloody end for the saint of love.

Robert Wyatt, Free Will and Testament
(Shleep, 1997)

Given free will — but within certain limitations — I cannot will myself to limitless mutations. I cannot know what I would be if I were not me, I can only guess me.

So when I say that I know me, how can I know that? (What kind of spider understands arachnophobia?) I have my senses and my sense of having senses. Do I guide them? Or they me?

The weight of dust exceeds the weight of settled objects. What can it mean, such gravity without a centre? Is there freedom to un-be? Is there freedom from will-to-be? Sheer momentum makes us act this way or that way. We just invent or assume a motivation. I would disperse, be disconnected — is this possible? What are soldiers without a foe?

Had I been free, I could have chosen not to be me. Demented forces push me madly round a treadmill. Let me off please, I am so very tired.
